The problem was traced to the cabin vents behind the rear bumper with water leaking past the gasket and into the main cabin. The entire interior was removed and a huge amount of water removed. It is likely the water has been accumulating for some time. Took 5 days to dry out the carpets and replace the interior.. Water in the rear passanger footwell and trunk. Mercedes A-Class 2013

Pour water through that upper opening, and confirm that water flows freely below. There are upper openings at the front corners of the top of the windshield frame. Clear the drain tubes that dump into the right rear fender well. They are the main causes of water in the trunk area, and PSE problems. The upper openings are at the gas fill flap.. Mine was completely soaked and kept supplying the rear footwell with water. If your rear seat has moisture underneath, it'll be trapped in the insulation (the top of the insulation has a plastic coating). The only direction it can go, is down.. through the cable holes, into your rear footwell. The rear footwell is in my experience the main rust.
